This is just my own observations with Zamir, (grandfid female) and Trinket (my little guy). Zamir bends over and spreads her wings out like an airplane and bends her tail straight up to show off her underpants. Trinket stays more upright and makes "heart" wings. He does bend his tail also but he is not flat and planed out. I hope that makes sense.

You know we've seen this behavior in both Dewey & Sierra, so I think it can be both sexes for sure.

Thanks for the update! I'm so glad they are doing so well together!

hi Ginger and Tamara!

Thanks, Ginger. Your explanation does make sense.

Yesterday I caught them doing that thing called love. At least it looked as a try as Zizou is so young (~3 months).

So, this leads me to another question. When it will be the best time to put a nest in their cage? Kaka is a young female, 1 year and 3 months now.

Well I am a firm believer that both sexes need to be at least a year old, preferably older, to breed. Fooling around is one thing, actually laying eggs and raising a clutch is another. Your hen is not nutritionally ready to be laying eggs. She still a baby herself. Can you seperate them? I would until their older and until then I would just let them have supervised play time out together.

Definitely do not encourage them to breed. 3 months is too young!

ohnn.... it would break my heart to separate them!

as zizou is still a crying baby desperate for attention and she doesn't want to go outside her cage very often, i usually bring him to my bedroom. she keeps calling him until he returns.
