That is a great news that your parents agreed. I would suggest though, since you are in school and also have after school activites, that you get two budgies, not just one.
One will be v. lonely while you are not home, unless of course someone is home all the time and will be interacting with him too. They are too social birds to be kept singly.
Also, when you get two at the same time from the same place, you do not need to quarantine.

You do not need to spend that much $ on a cage. This cage (link below) is v. good for one or two budgies. It is wide enough, not too tall so no space is wasted since most birds prefer to use only the upper part of their cage if the cage is tall. When it is not tall, birds willingly spend time on the bottom of the cage playing, eating, interacting.
Some call this cage flight cage, some a breeder cage. It is 30 x 18 x 18" . My budgies live in one and I think they are quite happy.

I was looking into getting two budgies, but I heard that if you have two in same cage then it's harder to tame them...? , and I don't know if the budgie I will be getting is tame. so, I thought that maybe really hard since i'm just getting re-introduced to birds again... if you know what i mean.
Sports are done so i won't have after school activities, i'll be home right after school.
Oh, and i also posted the picture of the cage i ordered in the cage section of the forum, it's 20x20x28.5. I think it's pretty big... feel free to tell me what you think. I love getting advice from everyone.
Thanks again for the advice!

Okay,
So the cage that we ordered is going to suppose to arrive next tuesday! (can't wait.) I also ordered some perches and different things and they should be here next tuesday also! :D

Me and my mom were talking about names last night ( i just wanted to have some of an idea ) and we came up with a couple of names,
for a boy--- Roo (like the baby kangaroo off of Winnie-the-pooh- Julia and Winnie really inspired me! :D .. hope you don't mind.) and for a girl--- Millie (i really liked how it sounded :) and its an old english word for ambitious and strong, so if i get a female thats strong hearted, etc. ;) )

I'm still probably gonna wait a little while after i get my baby to see his/her personality.
What do you guys think? :hmm:

Ohh I love that Winnie's name inspired you!! :D That made my day! And both names are really cute! I'm happy to hear your mom seems to be getting excited about the new baby as well!

Also I actually quite like the cage you chose. It's cool how it opens at the top. Does it have a little door at the front too? And is there a drawer to clean it or how does it work? (Winnie's cage is actually pretty practical in terms of cleaning and he is one MESSY boy! ) You might wanna get some of those rope perches btw in case you haven't already. They're cool because you can bend them and therefore put them all over the cage! (Ours goes up a bit, which Winnie seems to really like because he can run up and down it  )

Speaking of Winnie, he just stole one of my laptop keys and ran off with it... :?

PS: I don't think you have to get two birds right away. I mean Tony and I are both still in university and therefore Winnie does spend a few hours each day alone, but he knows how to entertain himself. Also, he gets a LOT of attention whenever we're home! So I think as long as you give your budgie tons of attention and cuddles when you're home, and lots of opportunities to entertain himself/forage for example while you're not, it's okay.

As for the taming thing, I don't know. My parents used to have two budgies and a cockatiel when I was small and the budgies were never as tame as Winnie is now, ALTHOUGH I probably never gave them as much attention either... so maybe that made a difference too. Anyway, we're planning on getting Winnie a little friend/girlfriend eventually too, but for now he's a happy little guy by himself. :)

Thanks!! Winnie's name just made something click. :D And my mom and dad both are really starting to warm up to the idea of a new little guy/girl in the house. I'm trying my best to educate them as I'm getting educated. hehe. :)

For the cage-- The top opens up and it can be closed-(I thought it would help like if i need to clean the cage or something I can just put the birdy up there and he/she can play, etc.) There is a big door in the front and there are also mini doors on each side for the water and food bowls so I dont have to reach completely inside. (these doors swivel out) As for the tray and grate, there are like runners that they sit on and they side out. My dad said he may have to make something or we may have to buy a seed guard though lol. :D

For the perches-- i just ordered one natural perch (i'll post a pic) but its wavy and i thought it would promote healthy feet. what do you think? I really need to get some rope perches and boings thought, those are some things i still need to get. :)

It's called a twig, but i'm pretty sure its bigger than a twig. :)

In the future.. another bird could be a posibility, but for now like you said, I think I can give him/her LOTS of attention!
I have read that on alot of websites- that's its harder to tame/get the trust of two birds at once, because they are more likely to bond with eachother then you. ---It shows that Winnie is a very happy birdy!

Hope your keyboard is okay. :D

Thanks Again.

Hahah my keyboard is being abused again as we speak :?

I think the cage sounds pretty cool! And good on you for getting tons of different types of perches, that'll definitely help his/her feet! :)

Thanks, he's a silly little monkey
